The 2013 Miami Marlins took the field on Monday night for their home opener in Miami. After a lot of news buzzing around during the offseason, a mostly rookie ball club took on the Atlanta Braves in front of 30,000 fans at home.
The Marlins coming off a much criticized off season where the Jeffrey Loria and the Marlins’ front office opted to trade basically everyone with a high cost contract out of Miami, the Marlins are back rebuilding around Giancarlo Stanton and Ricky Nolasco.
I understand the disappointment. After all, I have been a Marlins fan since their inaugural season in 1993 and have gone through fire sales (Let’s not forget Huizenga’s dismantling), fight for a new stadium, but most importantly two world championships.
