Tribe Sweeps Series!

Scott Kazmir

Winning 9-2 the Indians finished a sweep of their series with the Oakland As. This marks the first time since 1995 that they have swept the As at home in a 4 game series.

Kazmir, following suit to the other starters in this series, came out and gave a stunning performance. Staying on his mark never losing his edge he went 6 innings only allowing 1 run, a home run off the bat of Josh Donaldson, on 5 hits walking 0 and striking out an amazing 10 batters! Leaving the game and tipping his hat to a well deserved standing ovation

Working for Kazmir the tribes batters made sure he never had to pitch from behind. With homers by Swisher, Reynolds, and a 2 run from Kipnis along with RBIs from Gomes, Stubbs, and Giambi and a sac fly from Kipnis they showed their bats wern’t holding back today!

The one thing they did hold back was As starter Bartolo Colon. Holding him to his shortest outting this season, he went 4 innings giving up 8 runs, 2 homers on 8 hits and walking 0. He’s still only walked one batter all season.

Oakland did try to get a rally going in the 8th after scoring 1 and loading the bases with 0 out but Cody Allen came out and got back to back strikeouts then got a force out leaving the bases loaded.

Errors played a roll for the As in this series. Racking up 5 total errors the Indians took advantage of all but 1 scoring on 4 out of the 5!

Then there’s the bad call from last night that left Rosales with a double when really it was a home run and should have tied the game at 4-4. Im an Indians fan and i could still see it was clearly a home run.

Solid pitching for the tribe this series saw Jimenez, McAllister, Masterson, and Kazmir all earning a win and closer Chris Perez picking up 2 saves!

Hopefully both sides can continue on their hot streak as they roll into Motown tomorrow to start their series off against the Tigers!
